Since, Mahabali was a righteous King, he welcomed him whole heartedly and asked for his wish. Vamana replied, “ I want land of three steps measured by my feet.” The king agreed and offered him the same. But suddenly, the size of Vamana started increasing, and in no time he reached the sky. In one step he measured the sky, the another one took entire earth and he asked the king, “ now fulfill your promise and tell me where should I go for my third step?”. The King offered his head for the third step of  Vamana. The Vamana took his third step and hit the king with his head, this step was enough to send him to the Paatal lok and he lost his life.
